Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.
Robert Louis Stevenson
I spent a major part of yesterday at the hospital undergoing cardiac tests. By the time I was done I was hungry and tired. The good news was that I am holding my own. My cardiologist did tell me to eat right, get more exercise and keep breathing.
I also had to send my blood pressure, pulse rate and weight into a patient monitoring center as I do three times a week. It was the day I had to transmit my pacemaker history to a computer in Minnesota for analysis and forwarding to my electro-physiologist. I am glad it is all over for now. Today will be a day of rest.
Since our life goes on it is important we make the best of it. Here are some thoughts to help us do just that,
A Creed To Live
By Nancye Sims
- Don’t undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others.
- It is because we are different that each of us are special. Don’t set your goals by what other people deem important. Only do what is best for you.
- Don’t take for granted the things closest to your heart. Cling to them as you would your life, for without them life is meaningless.
- Don’t let life slip through your fingers by living in the past orin the future. By living one day at a time you live all days of your life.
- Don’t give up when you still have something to give. Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.
- Don’t be afraid to admit that you are less than perfect. It is the fragile thread that binds us to each other.
- Don’t be afraid to encounter risks. It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave.
- Don’t shut love out of your life by saying it is impossible. The fastest way to lose love is to hold too it tightly, and the best way to keep love is to give it wings.
- Don’t dismiss your dreams. To be without dreams is to be without hope, to be without hope is to be without purpose.
- Don’t run through life so fast thatyou forget not only where you have been, but also where you are going. Life is not a race, but a journey to be savored each step of the way.

The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.

A couple drove several miles down a country road, not saying a word. An earlier discussion had led to an argument, and neither wanted to concede their position.
As they passed a barnyard of mules and pigs, the wife sarcastically asked, “Relatives of yours?”
“Yep,” the husband replied, “Inlaws.”

Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

The future father-in-law asked, “Young man, can you support a family?”
The surprised groom-to-be replied, “Well, no. I was just planning to support your daughter. The rest of you will have to fend for yourselves.”

A dietitian was once addressing a large audience in Chicago.
“The material we put into our stomachs is enough to have killed most of us sitting here, years ago. Red meat is awful. Vegetables can be disastrous, and none of us realizes the germs in our drinking water. But there is one thing that is the most dangerous of all; and all of us eat it. Can anyone here tell me what lethal product I’m referring to? You, sir, in the first row, please give us your idea.”
The man lowered his head and said, “Wedding cake?”

A student comes to a young professor’s office hours. She glances down the hall, closes his door, kneels pleadingly.
“I would do *anything* to pass this exam.” She leans closer to him, flips back her hair, gazes meaningfully into his eyes. “I mean,” she whispers, “I would do … *anything*.”
He returns her gaze. “Anything?”
“Anything!”
His voice softens. “*Anything*??”
“*Anything*.”
His voice turns to a whisper. “Would you … study?”

Why is it that people say they “slept like a baby” when babies wake up like every two hours?

One night, a lady stumbled into the police station with a black eye. She claimed she heard a noise in her back yard and went to investigate. The next thing she knew, she was hit in the eye and knocked out cold.
An officer was sent to her house to investigate, and he returned 1-1/2 hours later with a black eye. “Did you get hit by the same person?” his Captain asked.
“No,” he replied. “I stepped on the same rake.”

There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.
